The history of Greek and Roman philosophy is a long-established field, pursued from a wide range of methodological and thematic perspectives. The international journal «Antiquorum Philosophia» aims to contribute to further development of this field of studies also by widening the range of 'antiquity' both in space and in time. On one side the journal takes 'antiquity' to cover both the different philosophies built up in Graeco-Roman world and the thought of other chronologically parallel ancient cultures (Ancient Near East, Egypt, India, China). On the other side, it also assumes that ancient philosophy continues to live beyond the limits of its historical time, in the renewals and revivals, interpretations and philological as well as historiographical inquiries that have been given in the subsequent ages till today. As a rule, each issue of the journal is organized in two sections. The first one, wider than the other, is thematic: it studies a topic in a variety of approaches and methods and through a series of particular cases concerning not only Greek and Roman philosophy, but also ancient thought in general and its revivals or modifications in successive ages. The second part collects single articles on specific points and discussions of recent publications.

La storia della filosofia greca e romana è una disciplina consolidata da lungo tempo e affrontata a partire da una molteplicità di prospettive metodiche e tematiche. La rivista internazionale «Antiquorum Philosophia» intende contribuire all'ulteriore sviluppo di quest'area di studi anche attraverso un ampliamento della nozione stessa di antichità, in direzione sia orizzontale e spaziale, sia verticale e temporale. Per un verso, si tratta d'includere sotto questa etichetta non solo le filosofie costruite nel mondo grecoromano, ma anche il pensiero di altre culture antiche cronologicamente parallele (Vicino Oriente antico, Egitto, India, Cina). Per altro verso, la rivista intende tener conto del fatto che la filosofia antica continua a vivere anche dopo la conclusione del suo specifico tempo storico attraverso riprese filosofiche, usi ed abusi, interpretazioni e indagini filologiche e storiografiche di epoche successive sino ad oggi. Ciascun fascicolo è generalmente articolato in due sezioni. La prima, più ampia, indaga in modo monografico un tema, studiato secondo una pluralità di approcci, prospettive e metodi, attraverso serie di casi particolari riguardanti non solo la filosofia greca e romana, ma il pensiero antico in generale ed eventuali riprese o modificazioni introdotte in età successive. Submissions are managed through an email-based system. Manuscripts should be sent to [email protected] and are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process (the reviewers are absolutely independent of the authors and not affiliated with the same institution). The journal is firmly committed to providing careful and timely assessments and to keeping response times as short as possible, in any case not exceeding 90 days. After acceptance, authors will be required to apply the style guidelines of the journal.

«Antiquorum Philosophia» accepts articles in English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish. The standard maximum length is 15,000 words, though longer contributions may be considered in specific cases; shorter, focused notes are also welcome. Author details should be included in the submission email, while manuscripts must be fully anonymised and prepared for blind review.

Accepted articles will be published first as AoP and made available online within the calendar year of acceptance. They will subsequently be collected into an annual printed volume. The publisher welcomes Open Access publications in accordance with the guidelines available on this page of Libraweb.
